    Description

I was commissioned to create the cover art for the December, 2017 issue of The International Brotherhood of Magicians' monthly magazine,
    The Linking Ring
.  The task was to create a magician based upon the Howard Bamman/Phil Willmarth trophy, awarded annually to a few of the magazine's contributors.  The trophy itself is based upon a rare bronze inkwell (both the trophy and inkwell are depicted in the photos).
The image was created in the style of popular 18th Century prints of French street magicians, common to the era.
I noticed that the trophy (and inkwell) were positioned in the classic Hermetic pose found on popular
    Magician
(also seen as Le Bateleur) playing cards of the period, with one hand pointing upward (holding the wand), and the other pointing down (holding a ball), in the "as above, so below" pose.
I updated the painting a small amount to reflect the other standard images found on such cards, in particular, the "infinity" symbol above the performer's head, on the finished art.
This image has now been recreated in a large (12 x 16 inch format), metal sign, with holes in the corners, making it ready to hang.  Note that this sign is manufactured in the United States (not in China), and is rendered in an electronic sublimation process, not just screen printed.  The metal is also much thicker (and a bit heavier) than the common China-made tin signs depicting old advertising images.  The metal is stainless steel, and the sublimation process makes it resistant to scratching, and the 20 gauge metal makes it difficult to bend accidentally.
There will be only 300 of these works of art, which feature an 18th Century French Street magician (L' Escamoteur) in action, performing the cups and balls trick, manufactured.
The price is .50 (US), plus actual insured priority mail shipping in the continental United States.  Shipping elsewhere will be more, based upon your destination.
Each of the 300 pieces is signed and numbered by me (the artist), and can be inscribed to you personally, upon request.  Once the 300 images have been sold, there will be no more manufactured.
Allow up to three weeks for shipping.  This time of year, I am sometimes away for days at a time participating in arts and crafts showings in the United States.  Your order will be processed immediately upon my return.
